Thailand
•June 24, 2009 • Leave a CommentI just got back from Thailand this weekend. I will get pictures posted real soon. It was the trip of a lifetime with gigantic spiders as room mates, scorpions, amazing rain storms, bamboo rafts, elephants for transportation, humidity beyond belief, but the most amazing people and children I have ever met! Can’t wait to do it again!

•April 13, 2009 • Leave a CommentI have been volunteering all my life for a variety of organization
s. I even had the opportunity to spend time in Kenya working at a school for the deaf, an orphanage, and a local hospital. I witnessed miracles that we take for granted everyday. I hope to write more about some of these experiences later. I will also be traveling to Thailand this summer with the same organization.
(For those of you interested in the organization it is called YouthLINC, and you can check them out at http://www.youthlinc.org/)

My point in this post is to let anyone reading it know that making a difference in the lives of others is not difficult. You don’t have to put on a huge event like (although it is entirely possible if you work hard) or travel across the world. All you have to do is “see a need, fill a need” (quoted from the animated movie Robots)
You may not change the world, but you can change the world for one person!
I think Helen Keller said it best when she said, ” I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something I can do.”
Making a difference
•April 13, 2009 • Leave a CommentAfter attending the Save the Book Babe event I just wanted to comment on how wonderful it is to see so many people coming together (friends, family, and complete strangers) to aid someone in need. My mother is a breast cancer survivor, so the event hit close to the heart. I know many of the people that attended the event or participated in it have been affected by breast cancer. I know that Adam Watts’ mother is a breast cancer survivor too.
(See my welcome post for more information about the Adam Watts Band. They are awesome!)
It is never easy to watch someone you love suffer. That was one of the reasons my sister and I drove 13 hours to attend the event! We left Thursday night and got back very early Monday morning, because I had class. Being a part of such a tremendous event (even though all I did was watch) is such an amazing experience.
Welcome
•April 12, 2009 • 1 CommentWell, for my first post I want to give a shout out to the Adam Watts Band. I recently had the opportunity to hear them play in Tempe, Arizona at a fundraising event for breast cancer. (Save the Book Babe featuring the Twilight author Stephenie Meyer). They were absolutely phenomenal. Their music is so much more than just notes and words strung together. When I heard them play, I also felt them play. I mean I could feel the emotion they put into their music, I could feel that it meant something to them, and it meant something to me. The lyrics are powerful and brilliant. The skill they have with drums, bass guitar, guitar and vocals are above and beyond what many could ever dream of achieving. Yet, they are all amazingly nice and generous individuals. I had the opportunity to meet them after the event while they were signing cd’s, and they were all so down to earth and genuine. They asked me to blog about them if I liked their music, but I have never blogged before. However, I love their music (their cd has not been removed from my player) so much that I want to do what I can to get the word out about how great they are! Check out their website http://adamwattsband.com/
You won’t be disappointed
